Showcasing bold and innovative contemporary art from around the world, the Biennale of Sydney is Australia’s largest contemporary visual arts event. Sydney conference centres always look forward to this biennial event and welcome the opportunity to host many international guests.
The exhibition is free and presented over 12 weeks, beginning 27 June and concluding on16 September 2012. It is held in the heart of Sydney at leading contemporary art spaces and on world heritage-listed Cockatoo Island. In addition to the exhibition, the Biennale presents artist talks, fabulous performances, guided tours, forums, family days and various other free events.
Participating venues are connected by a spectacular art walk on Sydney’s Harbour. Beginning at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, you can enjoy a stroll through the picturesque Royal Botanic Gardens arriving at bustling Circular Quay and the newly redeveloped Museum of Contemporary Art. From here, you can continue on to historic Pier 2/3 then catch the Biennale Free Ferry which will transport you across Sydney Harbour to Cockatoo Island, a world heritage-listed, former shipyard and prison.
The 18th Biennale of Sydney: all our relations (27 June – 16 September 2012) is based on a dynamic new exhibition model and its vision is to bring together international artists to explore new ideas. By providing this collaborative framework, organisers hope to encourage the creation of insightful multi-cultural artworks.
