What’s not to love about Adelaide at Fringe time.  From  late February through to mid March, Adelaide is the jewel in the crown of Australian capital cities where entertainment is concerned.  Conference centres in Adelaide are right in the thick of it as the city swells with the throng of revel makers looking to party. Artists from around Australia and across the globe entertain with all manner of art forms spanning cabaret, comedy, circus, dance, film, theatre, puppetry, music, visual art and design.

Adelaide Fringe literally takes over the city with 800 events staged in fittingly creative venues.  Everything from  parks, warehouses, lane-ways and empty buildings to the more  conventional spaces  such as theatres, hotels, art galleries, cafes and town halls are required to house such unique talent.

With over 100,000 tickets sold already for the performances of 3000 plus artists, 2012 is looking to be the biggest and boldest yet.  Certainly worth making a call to Adelaide conference centres in the hope that there might be ‘ room in the Inn’ for a few more celebration seekers.

The city of Adelaide is perfectly located in one of the most picturesque settings in Australia. Stretching from pristine beaches to peaceful foothills and the fertile Fleurieu Peninsula to Mount Lofty Ranges, it is an idyllic destination for your next corporate event.  Conference centres in Adelaide will be happy to share details of the city’s many delights and why it continues to rank highly as a livable city, according to the Top 10 in The Economist’s World’s Most Livable Cities index.

Colonel William Light, one of Adelaide’s founding fathers designed the city in an ‘easy to navigate’ grid layout, with wide boulevards and large public squares. It is completely surrounded by beautiful parklands and The River Torrens meanders through the city and continues out through the suburbs. With extensive walking and bike tracks, the river offers a wonderful opportunity to unwind and enjoy some fresh air whilst taking in the sites. The cultural boulevard of North Terrace boarders the Adelaide CBD on the River Torrens side and many of the city’s historic stately buildings can be found along its length. The Festival Centre which sits on the banks of the Torrens, Parliament House, The State Art Gallery, The State Library, Royal Adelaide Hospital and the beautiful Botanic Gardens as well as the ultra modern National Wine Centre of Australia are all here. North Terrace offers the densest population of accommodation rooms and conferencing spaces in all of Adelaide, Many 5 star brands are represented here, as well as a small mixture of mid range hotels and apartment style accommodation. Though the majority of the accommodation is found on North Terrace,  there are several great accommodation and conferencing options nestled within the grids of the CBD – to the East is some of the newer accommodation options in Adelaide, while to the west are several mid to high range venues that have been successful in supporting this city and its conferencing needs for many years. If something a little quieter is more your style, then South Terrace may suit your needs perfectly. With beautiful parklands as your outlook, this side of town offers several 4 – 4.5 star accommodation with mid range conferencing facilities – being on this side of town also has the added advantage of accessible (and often free) car parking. The CBD offers excellent dining experiences with Adelaide enjoying a ‘foodies’ reputation. Whatever the cuisine or style, you will be sure to find it in Adelaide – particularly as you move toward  renowned “Gouger” St with its eclectic mix of China Town, The Central Markets, gorgeous tapas Bars, and Grungy wine bars. Conference venues in Adelaide keep abreast of the current local trends and look forward to sharing their knowledge with you.

Situated north of the River Torrens and within the Adelaide Parklands lies the inner suburb of North Adelaide. This stylish, well established suburb boasts many heritage listed buildings, including a spectacular old church which sits on a rise overlooking the city. O’Connell Street in North Adelaide is a popular strip for its many great restaurants and the suburb as a whole, has an up-market sophisticated feel to it. Accommodation and conferencing here is perfect for small to mid range requirements, with 4 star hotels and apartments and boutique venues dotted throughout this area.

Only 15 minutes by tram from the city centre, is the seaside suburb of Glenelg. With a relaxed, holiday feel and white sandy beaches, Glenelg maintains its ‘favourite spot’ billing amongst locals and accounts for the great accommodation available here. One of the largest “all in one” conferencing and accommodation venues sits proudly on the waterfront – catering for in excess of 1000 People for a cocktail function – its an Adelaide Icon, and a favourite amongst event organisers. To support this growing area – Glenelg now has some great “apartment style” accommodation available along the foreshore. This area is a great option if you are wanting to treat your delegates with something a little extra.

Adelaide is noted for its long restful beachfronts and extensive parklands, its artistic culture, fabulous local food and wine produce and a temperate climate, ideal for enjoying the many outdoor festivals and activities that abound in this life-affirming city. If you are looking for a destination that will leave your delegates relaxed and refreshed, contact an Adelaide conference centre today.

The Adelaide Fringe Festival has a reputation for being edgy and bold with adventurous art forms and is the pre-eminent fringe festival in the Asia Pacific Region. Set late February, early March aside and treat your guests to some enticing and exceptional acts from around the world.
Another major cultural celebration is the Adelaide Cabaret Festival held in June and beginning on the Queen’s Birthday long weekend.  It has become a major event in the international and Australian Arts calendar and is known as the most comprehensive cabaret festival in the world.  Highlighting the best local, national and international artists in the cabaret genre, with classic and contemporary cabaret performances, you can dance the night away or delight in the diversity of music, satire, comedy or storytelling.

Be part of the crazy Clipsal 500.  Held over a weekend every March, this battle of the V8 Supercars in fought out on the streets of Adelaide and is a fun time to be in the city with it’s festive atmosphere.
The Santos Tour Down Under is the first event on the world cycling calendar and attracts 770,500 spectators from around the world each January. The challenging course cuts a path through some of Adelaide’s most beautiful surrounding wine regions and is telecast to millions around the world.  The course for the elite Pro-tour, which attracts top cyclists like Cadel Evens and Lance Armstrong, involves laps through the city area and the streets are lined with excited crowds eager to witness this thrilling race.
As conference centres in Adelaide will proudly confirm, this city is superbly equipped to provide a focus for the ‘good living’ tourism experience with which the state is so closely associated. The number and variety of food and wine experiences are too many to mention but are each intricately involved in Adelaide’s celebrated profile. Why not begin right in the city centre with the National Wine Centre, the famous Adelaide Central Market, restaurants and vibrant cafes boasting some of Australia’s best chefs and events such as Tasting Australia. This biennial event showcases the world’s top culinary talent and the state’s superior food and wine produce.  Over 100 leading food and wine media and celebrity chefs take part in cooking demonstrations, debates and classes. Some other city based food festivals celebrate the multicultural influence of Greek, Italian and German.  Others celebrate the sea, the vines, olives and oysters. It seems any excuse is a good one to celebrate in Adelaide and they do it so well. Of course in the picturesque wine regions that surround Adelaide, you can also indulge in celebrated wine and food festivals in just about any month of the year, no visit to Adelaide is complete without a lazy day spent enjoying the hospitality of one of the world’s best wine regions.
From vintage car runs to fun runs, Symphony under the stars to Jazz festivals, medieval, Rose?or festival of the waters, it’s all here.  Why not contact an Adelaide conference centre today and design an itinerary that will represent the definitive corporate package.

With Adelaide’s reputation for culinary excellence, award winning vineyards, cultural/artistic interests and many festivals, no one would suspect that it is also one of the most affordable cities to host your next conference. Conference venues in Adelaide will treat your guests to something special without blowing the budget.

The climate of Adelaide is considered ‘Mediterranean’ providing an abundance of fresh fruit and produce. Vineyards in the surrounding areas of Barossa, Clare, Coonawarra and McLaren Vale  thrive in the mild winter conditions which reach maximums of 15-16 degrees Celsius  and minimum temps of around 8 degrees Celsius.  Diversity in lifestyle and activities is the name of the game with hot dry Summers (on average 29 degrees Celsius but sometimes climbing to 40 degrees Celsius or above) lending themselves to long cool evening walks around the picturesque city gardens or river Torrens or maybe some down time for your guests at the pristine beaches just a short tram ride from the city.
